Terms of Service
These terms cover downloading, trying and buying VocalCode. They are written to be read, not skimmed past; the short version is that you get an honest tool under an honest licence, and we both keep our promises.
1. Who you are dealing with
VocalCode is developed and published by Daming Wu ("we"). For purchases, payment processing is handled by Stripe, and the merchant of record shown on your payment statement is Cartek LLC. Questions, problems and requests all go to support@vocalcode.app.
2. The trial
The 30-day trial is the complete application with every feature, and requires no payment card. Starting it requires one online request that issues a signed, device-bound trial receipt, as described in the privacy notice. One trial per device; the trial ends when its receipt expires.
3. The licence you buy
- Paying the one-time price grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use VocalCode on up to 3 devices that you use, for personal or work use.
- The licence includes updates within the current major version. A future major version may be a separate purchase; if so, your existing version keeps working under this licence.
- A paid licence is revalidated online periodically (at least every 30 days) against its signed receipt. Recognition itself runs on your device and works offline between revalidations; initial activation and revalidation need a connection.
- The licence is for you (or the person you bought it for) — not for redistribution, resale, key sharing beyond your own devices, or bundling into another product.
4. Purchases, taxes and refunds
- The price shown at checkout is a one-time payment plus any applicable tax collected by the payment processor for your jurisdiction.
- If something is wrong — the app does not work on your machine, or you bought it twice by accident — email support@vocalcode.app and we will sort it out. Nothing in these terms limits any refund or withdrawal rights you have under the consumer law that applies to you.
- Lost keys can be recovered at the recovery page.
5. What you agree not to do
- Do not circumvent, disable or defeat the licence and receipt checks.
- Do not decompile or reverse engineer the software, except to the extent a law that applies to you expressly permits it despite this clause.
- Do not use VocalCode to break the law, including using it to capture or process speech you have no right to process.
6. What the software promises — and does not
VocalCode is provided "as is". Speech recognition is probabilistic: output quality varies with your microphone, environment, language and hardware, and we deliberately publish no quantitative accuracy or latency guarantees. Text insertion depends on the operating system and the target application, and some targets refuse synthetic input. We work on defects in the open — the public issue tracker is the place to report them — but we do not promise the software is uninterrupted or error-free.
7. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or relating to VocalCode is capped at the amount you paid for your licence, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses such as lost profits or lost data. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
8. Ending the licence
If you materially breach these terms — for example by redistributing keys or circumventing licence checks — the licence ends. Sections 6 and 7 survive. You can end the agreement at any time by deleting the software; payments already made are governed by section 4.
9. Changes to these terms
If these terms change materially, the new version will be posted at this address with a new effective date. The terms in force when you bought your licence continue to govern that purchase unless the change is required by law or benefits you.
