MacWhisper, by developer Jordi Bruin, is a Mac transcription workstation built on the Whisper family of models: drop in audio or video files and get accurate transcripts, with the paid Pro tier adding batch work, more model options and translation. It also offers system-wide dictation. Its Gumroad listing shows a free tier and a one-time Pro licence (€59 when checked on 14 August 2026; the listing is authoritative). VocalCode does not transcribe files at all. It does one live thing: hold a key, speak, release, and punctuated text lands in the active field in most desktop apps — built for talking to AI coding agents like Claude Code and Cursor. $4.99 once, plus applicable tax. It also runs on Windows, which MacWhisper does not.
